Project Overview
LIFE Farm4more aims to implement a range of technologies, strategies and measures to achieve an improvement in climate-relevant emissions in the field of animal protein production. The two central technologies in this project are (i) a novel small-scale biochar process and (ii) the implementation of a green biorefinery prototype plant on a production-relevant scale.
The biochar pilot plant aims to produce high-quality biochar, which is used as a feed additive to achieve a reduction of greenhouse gases emission in animal husbandry (cattle and chicken).
In the green biorefinery, high-quality organic protein feed (for pigs and chickens) and green bulk chemicals are produced from grass silage. In addition, the biorefinery plant also produces a grass silage press cake, which is evaluated for its suitability as feed for ruminants and as a raw material for biogas production.
